How many people can play at once on Mario Kart for Nintendo Wii?

My mom just brought home Mario Kart for the Nintendo Wii last night. I was just wondering if more that two people can play at once on Mario Kart. Please don’t answer unless you are 100% sure that you’re right.

   4 people can play. Probably more online

   2 ppl on the same console can go online
   4 ppl can play at once on the same console but with no online
   12 ppl total online

   4 people if use are like all sitting together and over wifi 12.

   You can play 1-4 players on one console. This includes Team Racing, regular racing, coin battle and balloon battle.

   Only 1 player can play Grand Prix.

   2 people can play on Nintendo WFC from one console but up to 12 people can join 1 race or battle on the WFC.

   Up to Four people can battle/ Vs. Race on the same Wii.

   Two people can compete in Wifi together, only one of the Two has to be the “guest” and doesn’t get any points credited to him/her, even if they have a MKW license on that Wii.

   And up to twelve people can play in Wifi in Battle or Vs. Mode.
